Why we love South Perth

There are many reasons why we love the City of South Perth here at Bourkes.  Not only does the South Perth foreshore offer incredible views of our city skyline but the sunsets along the river are second to none.  Sighting dolphins under the Narrows Bridge is a common occurrence and you can’t get a better view of Perth’s famous Australia Day Skyworks anywhere else.  The South Perth foreshore is also currently undergoing an amazing makeover as announced by the City of South Perth in May this year.  Read more about the exciting refurbishment here – South Perth Foreshore Project.

South Perth locals could without a doubt name at least 100 reasons why they love living in the City of South Perth but for newcomers to the area, here are just a few things to do in this beautiful part of Perth.

Awarded WA’s Best Steak Sandwich in 2014, all the foodies out there won’t be able to resist the famous Black Angus Steak Sandwich at the Karalee on Preston.  The Karalee also offers unbeatable sweeping views of the Como Beach.  For tasty breakfast you can visit La Patisserie, Gusto, The Secret Garden Cafe or Cutlery Drawer.  Perhaps you might like to combine the most important meal of the day with your love of reading and opt for Mill Point Books & Cafe. Local cafes and restaurants also offer many different cuisine options including yummy Italian at Lago Di Como, Malaysian at Nasi Lemak, Thai at Pintos, Indian at D’Tandoor or Yum cha at Imperial Court.

There is also a great variety of sports to try, ranging from croquet on Comer Street to tennis at Hensman Park Tennis Club. Golf enthusiasts can choose from either Collier Park Golf Course or the Royal Perth Golf Club.  Water lovers can enjoy everything from fishing to water sports, or if local pool is more your scene then Wesley College Sports Club is the perfect place.  Throughout the year local residents get to enjoy regular social and leisure activities including concerts at Sir James Mitchell Park, visits to Perth Zoo, plays at the Old Mill Theatre or movies at the iconic Cygnet Theatre.
